Green Plumbing: Definition And Materials

home

There’s a need to live in an environmentally friendly manner to preserve the planet for future generations in the world today. For this reason, there’s an aspect of every niche that possesses an environmentally friendly tool. Green plumbing uses methods, tools, and techniques to reduce and conserve water by installing eco-friendly plumbing tools and consciously paying attention to reducing water consumption. All these actions are taken in a bid to preserve energy use in the environment. You should know and understand clearly the best plumbing materials. Information can be found here.

GREEN PLUMBING MATERIALS

The general types of plumbing pipes used today are PVC (polyvinyl chloride), iron, copper, and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene). See here for information about Factors to Consider before a Plumbing Project.

PVC

This is a traditional plumbing material made from petroleum-based chemicals. This is not a green plumbing material because scientists have found harmful chemicals in the raw materials. However, it is very cheap and can last for 100years when properly installed.

IRON AND COPPER

These are mostly made from melted and formed recycled materials. These are stronger and have a lifespan of 50years. However, the process of melting materials requires more energy, and it erodes faster. This corrosion may add residues to the water content flowing into the home.
